Just what I was looking forReview date: 2010-01-20 Rating: 10 out of 10This was bought as a gift after I read a recommendation on the website of a couple who had driven the length of Africa in their camper. Neither of us are mecahnics or technical minded, but that doesn't matter. The book is easy to follow and has clear instructions and diagrams. It was originally written in the 60's or 70's, but don't let that put you off because the VW's haven't changed since then anyway. If anything I find that reassuring because it shows that you don't need modern tools and gadgets, which aren't always readily available. This book will probably turn out to be our best friend when we go off on our adventure!

Essential Reading for Aircooled OwnersReview date: 2010-01-08 Rating: 10 out of 10This is essential reading for all owners of air cooled VW's it is a very entertaining read in its own right but the clear procedures make it worth its weight in gold. I've been working on my own VW's for over 20 years and this is the best of the non factory manual books(eg Haynes, Autobooks etc) I've used. The diagrams at first glance may seem a bit lacking in detail as they are hand drawn illustrations but they just show the parts you are working on and so not confusing you with complex photos and therefore are very easy to understand and follow.
I've saved the cost of this book many times over following the straight forward instructions.A necessityReview date: 2009-12-15 Rating: 10 out of 10We know nothing about mechanics - this is a must.
